Sad and Funny Story

Officials were alerted by a blocked pipe in the northern city of Kiel. A cleaning company employee extracted soggy bundles of bank notes, but more money got away as the water started flowing again......(click link for the rest of the story from ABC News)

Poor man. What in the world would make him think he should flush bank notes even if he thought they were worthless? A definite breakdown in logical thinking there.

In my time in Germany I may have flushed that ammount of money down the toilet as well - after of course its passed through my kidneys! :)

Poor old guy. I read about this in our local paper last week. I think the change in currency and the deadlines as to when you could exchange DM for EUR really confused some of the older people and he was probably a bit senile as well. I'm glad he got a bunch of his money back!
