We are now married!

Today is a historical day. My partner and I were married at the Standesamt in Duesseldorf! We are officially married in Germany. It is hard to believe, but it is now a fact. My next step is to go to the Auslanderamt on Monday to obtain my German residence permit. So now we are going to relax this evening and we are off to Amsterdam tomorrow morning until Sunday evening. Have a great weekend everyone. I will post photos of the trip to Amsterdam when we return.

Here is the Standesamt just north of the Hofgarten in Duesseldorf:

This is the foyer inside the Standesamt:

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you both. May you have a long, happy, healthy and peaceful life together.

You know they're probably give you only a three year residency visa. After three years when you renew they'll give you a permanent one (although I had to wait six years to get my permanent one - long story!).

Congratulations, indeed! I'm so jealous. I wonder if Donica and I will live long enough before the US gives us that privilege! (sigh)
